Like a classic D&D role-playing game, survivors have relationships with each other, which can have a direct effect on the group as a whole. The other major aspect to surviving in State of Decay 2 is building up a strong collective of survivors. It also allows you to access your stash so you can drop off items youвЂ™ve gathered out in zombie-infested suburbia without having to travel all the way back to your main base of operations. Establishing new outposts is one of the best things you can do with your influence as buildings will automatically produce some of those core materials over the course of a day. ItвЂ™s also used to claim new buildings once youвЂ™ve cleared the zombies out of them. Influence is the currency used to trade, upgrade, and improve your characters. Outside of those core materials, the other important resource in State of Decay 2 is вЂњinfluence,вЂќ which is earned from killing zombie hordes, clearing out infestations, helping other communities, and other survival actions. These items and upgrades like explosives, repair kits, bonus production stats, allow your group of survivors to grow.

Each of these zones utilize raw materials you find in the world to build critical components for survival.

Maintaining a consistent supply of these materials comprises much of the core gameplay loop as they keep your expanding community of survivors happy and healthy, and also allow you to upgrade sections of your base with specialized zones like a medical tent, garden, workshop, and more. From there youвЂ™ll scavenge nearby houses, restaurants, stores, and other buildings for materials - Food, Weapons and Ammo, Building Supplies,В and Medical supplies. Your first task after going through the initial tutorial mission is to setup a base of operations. ItвЂ™s an extremely focused survival game with strong story-based elements that drive and guide you through the loop of gathering resources, building up your base, and surviving the zombie hordes.ДЄs the game starts youвЂ™ll pick a pair of survivors to play as. This is where I think State of Decay 2 sets itself apart. And if I do use my own profile, (my single player profile) the loot I find and we don't use might get used up in my own game, effectively making him lose loot on this side.There are hundreds of games now that fall into the вЂњsurvival gameвЂќ genre, but in my opinion, very few pack the narrative вЂњoomphвЂќ to push them into something engaging (I can only collect 10 sticks to build an axe so many times). This would especially be annoying if I dedicate one profile to only playing with him because everything I loot would be for his community as well, so the reliance on having to communicate back and forth what is essentially both of our loot would be irritating. However, if it IS shared, the other side of that problem is, unless 'my' loot is clearly visible whenever he looks into a locker, it might be irritating going back and forth asking each other 'hey, do you have this? What about this? How much food you have? Do you need any ammo?' all the time. He usually never plays a game that can do co-op by himself, (where as I do) so that's not a problem on his side. The easiest remedy to that is I just dedicate one profile to co-op play only. We try not to overpower each other when playing games, like using high level characters with one of us is lower, etc. The main issue I see with this is because if the loot is NOT shared, the game will be effectively double the loot and the game would be way too easy. Or does he get his own chance to find something in there? I ask this because I read that if I were to join my friend's game, the 'loot' is coming from 'my' game. What I want to know is when looting containers in buildings, is loot shared or not? By shared, I mean if I loot a desk before my friend does, he can no longer loot it.

But there's a few things I'm concerned about.

So I'm waiting for my friend to get the game because he's gotta grab a copy of Windows 10 (because MS Store, ugh ) and I read up on how co-op is supposed to work.
